On March 13, 2024, the first workshop organized within the KA2020 Erasmus+ project took place at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. The aim of this event was to gather insights from experts in the business sector on selected topics related to entrepreneurship and to identify the knowledge and skills requirements for graduates. The information gathered will serve as the basis for creating innovative educational materials in the field of economics and management.
Experts from three companies participated in the workshop: Ing. Tomáš Habiňák and Mgr. Marek Žmijovský from CORA GEO, s.r.o., Ing. Katarína Kratochvílová and Ing. Lucia Slamková from UNIQA Group Service Center Slovakia, spol. s r.o., and Ing. Rudolf Lukačka, a long-time entrepreneur in the field of information technology and information systems, who currently works as a professional coach with international certification.
The guests discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the energy crisis on their businesses. Representatives from CORA GEO and UNIQA emphasized that their work allows a large portion of activities to be performed online, which helped them promptly respond to the arising situations. On the other hand, Mr. Lukačka faced challenges in the hospitality industry, requiring quick optimization and adaptation to new conditions. In the discussion about graduates‘ requirements, the guests agreed that knowledge of office software and communication skills are essential. They further emphasized the importance of practical experience, which students can gain through programs like Erasmus, engagement in activities during their studies, and part-time jobs. According to UNIQA representatives, language skills, particularly in English and German, are crucial for success in an international environment. The issue of motivation was also discussed, with Mr. Lukačka stressing that motivation should come from within, as external stimuli are not sustainable.
Employing foreigners is not an issue for the participants. UNIQA actively supports and employs people affected by the war in Ukraine, and Mr. Lukačka also employs Ukrainian citizens and participates in humanitarian aid. The workshop provided valuable information and expert opinions that will be used to create educational programs within the ISCEM project. This information is key to preparing students for successful integration into the labor market and adapting to rapidly changing conditions in the business environment.
